HUNTING

These are some of my most favorite pictures. Ever. We decided to take a family picture when we were out Christmas tree hunting the saturday after thanksgiving. We had a lot of fun.
One of Matthew's nicknames is Buddy Bear. He is 3 months old now, and just as happy as can be!
The spot on Jon's face is from one of his 4-wheeler adventures. Apparently, he went off with Anthony and Cody, ended up jumping through branches while traveling through some trees, and they hit him in the face. These trees were SO Pokey! They hurt when we touched them.
The family had a contest. 50 cents for the prettiest tree. It was a race to see who would win. So, some of us had 4-wheelers, and Jon and I went uphill to the spot we got ours from last year. We found June and Jerry, who had hiked up this hill, and were at the spot. We thought "they are going to get the tree..." so we went into the place where they were, and they were screaming. THEY HAD FOUND THE TREE THEY WANTED. And June has marked it with her red sweatshirt. Just as we ran in, she found another she liked better, but jon threw his sweatshirt on it before she could find something else to mark it with. It was hilarious. And our tree definately won! (Or so we think....)

It was again, a lot of fun. And pretty hilarious. We decidied that maybe when it snowed up there that we would go play. There isn't even any snow anywhere right now! It isn't even at any of the passes! So, we are waiting....
Matthew amazingly, slept the whole time Jon and I were out on the 4-wheeler. What a surprise.

One of Jon's favorite things to do is 4-wheeling, and maybe someday, we will be able to have our own. I would have a blue one....

This is the award winning tree right here. It's a lot bigger in person.

Tis the season to spend time with family. It is such a precious time of year, remember that all the memories and moments you have with your family now will be what you remember in years to come, rather than that fabulously expensive Wii..... or Ipod. Life is so much more than material things. If you take the time to appreciate your family now, those things quickly fade away. I promise! This is shapping up to be one of the best Christmases ever, not because we have all of this money to buy luxurious gifts, but because we are spending it together, and getting back to what really matters.

Wonderful post Amber. I just read it. I thought I'd already read and commented. Ooops. You're right about getting back to what matters. I am so happy for you and Jon and Matthew. You're going to be sealed for eternity! I wish I could be there and I would be, but yes, I will be on my way to the kids' at that time. Best wishes to you.
